Ericsson currently has the number six slot on the list of leading cell phone manufacturers, just below LG.

Kyocera Wireless Corporation is a manufacturer of mobile telephones for CDMA networks and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kyocera Corporation that was formed in February 2000. In early 2008, they acquired Sanyo mobile phones for $375 Million and on April 1st, 2008, they merged forming Kyocera-Sanyo making them the sixth-largest cell phone company. They also announced that they will be entering the GSM handset market.

SANYO Electric Co., Ltd.

SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. is a $20 billion manufacturer and distributor of consumer electronics and commercial equipment, including multimedia and telecommunication products and is known for producing industry-leading handsets. SANYO has been at the forefront of supporting key technology initiatives from wireless carrier Sprint, whom they have exclusive rights to sell mobile phones in the US, including offering the first two phones to support Sprint’s Ready Link walkie-talkie service in 2003, having one of the first phones to operate on the Sprint Power Vision SM Network in 2005. As of April 1st, Kyocera acquired the Sanyo mobile phone division which is now called the Kyocera Sanyo Telecom.
